To help make your search easier, we've developed a comprehensive system to help hikers like you assess the difficulty of various hiking courses, ensuring a rewarding and safe outdoor journey.

Target Hiker: Suitable for kids to adults. Those who are in reasonable physical condition and can walk normally for a length of time.
Hike Span: 1-3 hours
Distance/Elevation: 3-6 kilometers with an elevation gain of less that 500 meters.
Target Hiker: Suitable for most ages. Those who are in fairly good physical condition and have some level of basic hiking experience.
Hike Span: 2-4 hours
Distance/Elevation: 5-9 kilometers, with an elevation gain of up to 800 meters.
Target Hiker: Suitable for young adult to adults. Good physical condition and experience hiking in various terrain. Hikes a few time a year.
Hike Span: 4-6 hours
Distance/Elevation: 8-12 kilometers with an elevation gain of up to 1000 meters.
Target Hiker: Suitable for young adults to adults who are experienced hikers. Those who are in excellent physical condition and hike monthly in a variety of terrain and with longer durations and high elevation gain.
Hike Span: 6+ hours
Distance/Elevation: 10 + kilometers with an elevation gain of more than 1000 meters.
Exposure: No exposure. Mostly consists of smooth surfaces with potentially light obstacles or debris. The use of light trekking shoes is appropriate.
Incline: Small climb with a short incline at most.
Exposure: Light exposure. May contain rocks or chains, requiring some use of hands. Need to use some caution. Mostly uneven terrain, so high ankle boots recommended. Chance of injury, but minimal.
Incline: Steeper incline, but often steady.
Exposure: Scrambling included with steep exposed ascents and decents. Falls could result in injury or death. May or may not have hand aids. Excessive weather conditions
Incline: Difficult, longer stretches of steep inclines.
